Non-Hardy Early Cover Crop
A mix of mustard and fodder radish for rapid establishment and large amounts of green matter. Fodder radish is deep rooting, penetrating through the soil structure improving water infiltration and rooting potential for future crops as well as drawing up nutrients from the subsoil. Although not very winter hardy, mustard is quick to get away and produces lots of biomass and has potential to reduce wireworm populations. Any frost damaged plants will surface mulch ready for incorporation.
