From small beginnings
Having worked in the industry for 10 Years as both a crop inspector and sales agent, Nigel saw a gap in the market for quality seed mixtures and superior service to match. In July of 1991 Powys Leys was born. Production began on a small range of grass mixtures, (all mixed by hand) and these initial Leys went out on farm to high acclaim.
Progression
Teaming up with industry leading companies, Nigel visited trails sites and R&D plants across Europe gaining invaluable experience he would later utilise when building on his range of Leys. With the grass seed business growing year on year the high level of service and expertise offered extended into ley care and agronomy. In 1992 Powys Leys started offering BASIS registered agronomy services.

Recognised for offering high quality and exceptional service, Powys Leys mixtures have become first choice for farmers throughout Mid Wales and the Borders, many of whom have been loyal customers from day one. Now entering it's 30th year and 2nd generation, Powys Leys continues it's tradition of quality and service.
leading seed houses to fulfil mixing and bagging requirements. To this day, Powys Leys still work with industry leading production plants to ensure products are of exceptional quality. In the same year Powys Leys took over Pryce Oliver and Sons of Cilcewydd expanding into the animal feed sector. Now supplying BOCM Pauls feeds the addition of a full-time storeman was required. Powys Leys still operate from Cilcewydd store to this day.
